Kindergarten support

Parents and guardians enrolling children in kindergarten for the 2026/2027 school year at North Smithfield Elementary School who need help with the process can attend a support session on Tuesday, March 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the school at 2214 Providence Pike.

Online registration is available here, open to all children living in North Smithfield who will be age 5 before September 1 and all families must be registered by April 30.

Coffee hour

Good Working at 585 Smithfield Road will host a coffee hour on Thursday, March 26 from 8 to 9 a.m. Join fellow professionals for complimentary coffee while you connect and collaborate at the free event, which is open to the public.

The Smile Train

Support Jordan Harrop’s senior project at a fundraiser to benefit children with cleft lips and palates on Friday, March 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the gymnasium of North Smithfield Elementary School at 2214 Providence Pike. The Smile Train Fun Night will include music, face painting, obstacle courses, games, concessions, raffles and more.

The event costs $10 at the door per family or $5 for those who preregister here. Questions can be directed to [email protected].

Soil testing

Ask the Master Gardeners your gardening questions and have your soil samples tested on Saturday, March 28 at the North Smithfield Public Library at 20 Main St. between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Drop in and bring your own soil sample to be tested by University of Rhode Island Master Gardeners.

Residents can also register now for an evening of meditation to be held at the library next Monday, March 30 starting a 6:30 p.m. Relax and destress with Mary Scannell once you register at https://northsmithfield.librarycalendar.com or by calling (401) 767-2780.

Egg Hunt

The North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Department has scheduled the town’s annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 28 at the Pacheco Park fields starting at noon. The event is open to North Smithfield children ages 2 through 8 and their families and will include a visit from the Easter bunny. Attendees should bring their own bag or basket and arrive early.

Lunch with the bunny

Visit Texas Roadhouse at 39 Dowling Village Blvd. on Saturday, March 28 for pictures with the Easter Bunny, an Easter egg hunt, and fun kid- themed activities from noon to 3 p.m. The first 50 kids to arrive at the restaurant will receive a special gift, and Balloons with Clown Dave will be on site from 1 to 3 p.m.

Town meetings

The Board of Assessment Review will hold a meeting on Monday, March 23 starting at 1 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. Notice posted on the Secretary of State’s website can be found here.
