Rummage sale, kindergarten registration & OMFD pasta: Six things to know in Burrillville this week

Kindergarten registration

Children in Burrillville who turn 5 by September 1 and are entering kindergarten this fall will be able to register with the Burrillville Public School District during events at A.T. Levy Elementary School at 135 Harrisville Main St. on Wednesday, April 8 and Thursday, April 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. Guardians should bring proof of residency including two different utility bills dated within a month of registration showing their name and physical address; a current tax bill or mortgage statement; and a notarized affidavit of residency found here.

They should also bring an original copy of the child’s birth certificate, and immunization and physical records. Children who have not been screened by Child Outreach should accompany their caregivers.

Rummage sale

Berean Baptist Church 474 Chapel St. will hold an indoor rummage sale on Saturday, April 11 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The sale will include kitchen items, small appliances, books, toys, jewelry, seasonal decor and baked goods, and will also feature a raffle. 

Pasta dinner

The Oakland Mapleville Fire Department will host an all you can eat pasta dinner on Saturday, April 11 from 4 to 7 p.m., serving pasta, meatballs, salad and bread. Tickets cost $15 for adults or $7 for children age 6-11, with kids age 5 and under free, and are available at the station at 46 Oakland School St. Tickets will also be available at the door and both dine in and to go dinners will be available.

Baseball booster

There are still tickets available for the Burrillville Baseball Booster Club’s Funny 4 Funds event featuring local comedians on Saturday, April 11 at Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club at 200 Brook Road, with doors at 6 p.m. and a show to start at 7:30 p.m. The 18 plus event will feature raffles, a 50/50 drawing and a cash bar, with food trucks on site and snacks available for purchase.

Museum room

The new museum room at the Bridgeton School at 16 Laurel Hill Ave. will be open on Sunday, April 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. The museum, operated by the Burrillville Historical & Preservation Society, is open on the second Sunday of each month.

Town meetings

The Burrillville Housing Authority will hold a meeting on Wednesday, April 8 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the community center at 77 Aston Court. The agenda is here.
