
Morning Book Club
North Smithfield Public Library’s Morning Book Club will meet on Wednesday, April 29 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. to discuss The Berry Pickers by Amanda Peters. Don’t Open Your Eyes by Liv Constantine is the Mystery Book Club’s selection for discussion on Monday, May 11 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 27, the Morning Book Club will review Don’t Let Him In by Lisa Jewell.

Older kids and young teens are invited to a similar program on May 21 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. At Books & Brownies, kids will decorate and enjoy brownies while discussing current topics in youth literature. The group will choose an appropriate book to read for their next meeting. Allergen friendly brownies will be provided as well.

Fiber workshop
All knitting and crocheting enthusiasts, or anyone interested in learning, is invited to a fiber workshop group, being hosted by North Smithfield Parks and Recreation.
The first workshop will be held Thursday evening, April 30 at 6:45 p.m. at Memorial Town Hall at 1 Main St. Bring your projects and be ready for fun conversations and learning new techniques.
Plans are to meet twice a month, on the second Tuesday at 10 a.m. and the last Thursday at 6:45 p.m.

CERT training
The North Smithfield Emergency Management Agency will begin a Community Emergency Response Training course this week, open to residents age 16 and up. Artisan fair
The Spring Artisan Fair returns to the Beef Barn Restaurant at 200 Industrial Drive on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Spend the day browsing local vendors, supporting small businesses and enjoying the expansive grounds surrounding the restaurant.
The rain date for the event is Sunday, May 3.
Northmen 5K
The annual Northmen 5K will take place on Sunday, May 3, a family-friendly run/walk beginning at North Smithfield Middle School at 1850 Providence Pike at 9 a.m. All ages and skill levels are welcome, with proceeds to benefit the North Smithfield Athletic Association.
