BURRILLVILLE – A 64-year-old Pascoag man was arrested and charged with assault and felony domestic strangulation last week over an altercation that began over a dog, and ended with pleas from the victim’s 4-year-old grandaughter.

Jesse Lallier was taken into custody on Thursday, Oct. 25 after police were called to Pascoag Main Street just after noon. The victim, a 60-year-old female, reportedly had blood on her mouth and said she had been assaulted by Lallier, her boyfriend.

The woman said Lallier told her he was taking her dog to someone else who would take care of it. She said she grabbed his shirt trying to get the dog back, and he pushed her and elbowed her in the face in response.

The victim said she tried to run away from Lallier, but fell into a chair and he grabbed her by the neck until she nearly passed out. She said he did not stop until her granddaughter yelled at him.

The 4-year-old girl, who police said looked “very upset by the incident,” reportedly kept repeating that Lallier had choked her grandmother.

Lallier was charged with domestic assault, domestic strangulation and domestic disorderly conduct.
