BURRILLVILLE – A 19-year-old man from Burrillville has been charged with five felonies, as well as several misdemeanors in a case involving child pornography, following an investigation by the Burrillville Police Department.
Xavier Lafleur, of Chapel Street in Harrisville, was arrested on Friday, Jan. 10 at 8:33 a.m., according to a release from the department. The release noted that Lafleur was charged with unauthorized dissemination of indecent materials, (revenge porn,) a misdemeanor.
“This was the result of a lengthy investigation conducted by members of this department,” it noted.
Records in the state criminal database show that Lafleur has also been charged with indecent solicitation of a child, manufacturing and publishing of child nudity, possession of child pornography and two counts of electronic dissemination of indecent material to minors, all felonies, as well as contributing to the delinquency of a child under the age of 16, a misdemeanor.
NRI NOW requested a copy on Lafleur’s arrest report on Monday, Jan. 13, but according to Major Dennis Leahey, the document has not been made public as it is still part of an active investigation.
The suspect is not a student at Burrillville High School, and has no connection to the school, according to reports. A complaint in October is said to have initiated the police investigation.
Leahey stated that police also alerted authorities in Warwick about adults there who might have connections to Lafleur, and that department is also actively investigating the case.
Lafleur pleaded not guilty to unauthorized dissemination of indecent material, but did not enter pleas for the felony charges. He was transported to 6th District Court for his arraignment on Monday, Jan. 13, and bail was set at $10,000.
He was referred to a public defender and has a pre-arraignment conference set for April 10.
