BURRILLVILLE – Teachers from Callahan Elementary School are looking to safely celebrate the end of the school year, and will hold a car parade next week along portions of some 36 different Burrillville streets.

The Callahan Colts Community Parade will be held on Tuesday, June 2, with teachers and staff from the Burrillville elementary school leaving from the facility at 2 p.m.

“This will be a celebration for all students and teachers as we near the end of the school year,” a flyer on the event notes. “We have had a lot of challenges over the last few months but as a community working together we were successful in online distance learning.”

Organizers are asking the school community to show their Callahan team spirit and wear school colors. They’re calling on all of Burrillville to participate and show their support by decorating stores, front doors, yards, mailboxes and storefronts.

Parade-goers are reminded to practice distancing guidelines and to also stay a safe distance from the roadways. A link shared the day of the parade will allow others to follow their progress around town in real time on the Glympse app.

The rain date for the event is Wednesday, June 3.
