BURRILLVILLE – Teachers and staff from Callahan Elementary School held a community parade on Tuesday, June 2, driving along some 36 Burrillville streets waving to residents to celebrate the end of the school year.
Parade-goers could be seen waiting along the route, sporting their school colors and holding signs to show their school spirit.
The caravan of dozens of decorated vehicles ran a bit behind schedule, but made a cheerful spectacle Tuesday afternoon. Organizers noted the delay was the result of the long route, and the desire to include as many local families as possible.
“We definitely went slowly when we saw families outside they needed to see us and we needed to see them,” said resource teacher Gayle Delprete. “They made heartwarming signs and yelled out kind words and thanks and praise.”
“We, as teachers, were overwhelmed,” Delprete added.
