Parent forum
The Burrillville School District will host a virtual public forum on the plan to reopen schools at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 27. Parents have been asked to submit questions in advance via a form found here.
Guests can join the meeting via Zoom here.
Cooling shelters
With high temperatures expected over the next two days, the town has made cooling shelters available for those who need to escape the heat.
If you or someone you know is in need of shelter, contact the Burrillville Emergency Management director at (401) 641-0898.
Planning Board opening
The town is always accepting applications from residents who are interested in serving on a board or commission and officials note that it’s a great time to get involved and bring new ideas to the town. Applications are kept on file for one year and residents are contacted if an opening comes up on the board they are interested in. A list of town boards and commissions can be found here.
Currently, there is an opening on the Burrillville Planning Board.
If you have an interest to serve on this board or any others, fill out an application and mail it to Town Clerk at Burrillville Town Building, 105 Harrisville Main St., Harrisville, RI 02830. You can also drop it off at the Town Clerk’s office during normal business hours or email it to [email protected].
Bears
Burrillville Animal Control is warning residents that they have had multiple black bear sightings over the past two weeks. Residents are advised to secure trash and eliminate food sources such as pet food and bird feeders so the animals do not become a nuisance.
