Open House

Bernard-Desjarlais American Legion Post 88 will host an open house on Wednesday, Sept. 16 from noon to 6 p.m.  Guests are invited to stop by at 111 Chapel St. in Harrisville and sign up for VA medical care, learn about the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery and  the Rhode Island Veterans Home,  and discuss other veterans issues.

Poll workers

The town of Burrillville is in need of poll workers for the Tuesday, Nov. 3 general election. The work comes with a paid stipend. Those interested are asked contact the Town Clerk’s office at (401) 568-4300, ext. 180 or  [email protected].

Fall hoops

Registration is now open for a four week, one-on-one basketball program set to begin on Saturday, Oct. 3. The Fall Hoops program will take place at Burrillville Middle School on Saturdays for kids ages 6-14 separated into groups by age and ability.

The cost for the program is $38 and participants must register by September 30. To register visit 1on1basketball.com.

The weekend

Open mic

Friday, Sept. 18 is the final night of live music in the summer concert series put on by Burrillville resident Rob Greyfox at The Island on Victory Highway. The night will feature original artists and musicians along with open mic music. Dave Martel, Ro Evans and Charlie Rock will perform, and half hour slots will be available for artists who show up. The event begins at 6 p.m. and there will be food trucks on the premises.

Farmer’s market 

Just two weeks remain for the Burrillville Farmer’s Market featuring local food, art and music at the Stillwater Mill Pavilion every Saturday. Visit the market on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
