NORTH SMITHFIELD – North Smithfield town administrator candidate Paul Zwolenski is assuring his supporters that he’s still running for the job, following an issue with the Secretary of State’s website that omitted the longtime councilor’s name from the General Election list.
Rhode Island Director of Elections Rob Rock has assured Zwolenski that his name will appear on the ballot on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Zwolenski contacted the Board of Elections after noticing the error on Wednesday, Sept. 16, and resubmitting his nomination papers in case they were needed.
“It is an issue with the website display,” Rock responded. “We’ve made the ballots and you’re on it.”
“I appreciate your follow through on this,” Zwolenski replied. “Hopefully the website display will be corrected. There was concern about the ballots.”
As of 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon, the error had not yet been remedied.
Zwolenski will run against Councilor Douglas Osier for the position leading the town after the two beat out a third opponent, School Committee member Paul Jones during a primary election last week. Current administrator Gary Ezovski announced earlier this year that he would not be seeking a third term.
