WOONSOCKET – Autumnfest 2020 has been dubbed “the year that wasn’t,” due to a pandemic that cancelled the 42-year festival, along with other events and celebrations across the globe.
To keep the spirit of the festival – which normally take place every Columbus Day weekend – alive, the Autumnfest Steering Committee has announced the first Autumnfest Rolling Parade, scheduled to take place starting at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 12 departing from the Hamlet Middle Schools.
The Autumnfest Rolling Parade will consist of numerous vehicles that will travel around the city of Woonsocket to remind residents that Autumnfest will be back in 2021, according to members of the committee. The event also aims to recognize first responders from the Woonsocket Police and Fire Departments, as well as doctors, nurses and staff at Landmark Medical Center.
