BURRILLVILLE – Burrillville-based artist and public safety advocate Jim Weicherding has released the latest in his series of coloring cartoons for kids, with images focused on COVID-19 and flu prevention.
“It’s the holiday and winter months season and the COVID-19 epidemic is still here and wreaking havoc with Rhode Island kids and families across the state,” he said.
Weicherding has already created numerous illustrations featuring his award-winning cartoon characters and cartooning over the past months hoping to curb the spread of the disease and do so without instilling unnecessary fears and anxieties kids, teens and adults.
The artist said he aims to focus on education and awareness when it comes to his creative efforts to try and keep everyone safer and healthier. He notes that he never dwells on the negative aspects of his outreach efforts, takes the positive route and does so with tireless dedication and hard work. Weicherding said it takes days just to illustrate a single kids and family safety, or healthy habits coloring cartoon.
“These new holiday and winter season COVID and flu prevention coloring cartoons can help save a life so please share,” he said.
Parents are invited to print the cartoons out for kids to color in and display on the family refrigerator or in grade schools, daycares and libraries across the state over the next few months.
“They also make perfect handouts to kids and families at community facilities and safe distancing events,” Weicherding said. “Spread COVID and flu prevention education and awareness, not the disease. Happy, safe and healthy holidays!”
