Election Day
Tuesday, March 2 is the date for the special election to decide seven statewide referenda questions, bond issues total $400 million for projects ranging from higher education, state beaches, recreational facilities, transportation, early childhood care, and industrial infrastructure.
In North Smithfield, voters can cast a ballot at the single election day polling location at Town Hall on Greene Street, with voting hours to be held from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Hurdle champs
Congratulations to North Smithfield High School track and field athletes for impressive results on the boys 55 meter hurdles at the RI State Indoor Championship meet. Aiden Beauchemin came in first place, narrowly edging out teammate Raymond Marsella, who was second at the competition on Saturday, Feb. 27.
Jackson Duffy of Barrington took third place with yet another Northmen athlete, Matthew Stamatelatos just behind him in fourth.
Pumpkinfest planning
Mark your calendar for an upcoming Zoom meeting to plan Pumpkinfest 2021. Organizers will meet virtually on Wednesday, March 17 from 6 to 7 p.m. and those who would like to help out, or learn about this year’s festival can attend via the link here.
Northmen Live Streaming
A new Facebook page launched by volunteers in February is now offering live streaming of some of the Northmen school games. The public can view video of games published on the page during or after the events. The page aims to give parents a chance to see some of the home game action, but the group reminds viewers that it is not a school district sponsored page professional video stream.

Town meetings
The North Smithfield Town Council will hold a virtual meeting on Monday, March 1 starting at 6:45 p.m. The agenda and link to attend can be found here.
