The family of George A. Barber has organized a drive-by 95th birthday party for him on Sunday, March 7 at 1 to 2 p.m. at the VFW building across from Lawrence Brother’s Hardware on Chapel Street in Harrisville.
Visitors are asked to toot their horns, and decorate their vehicles with balloons and homemade signs. Fire trucks, police vehicles and veterans groups are especially welcomed.
A lifelong town resident, World War II veteran, former Burrillville Sewer Commissioner, local businessmen for John E. Pomfret Ford Sales, Pascoag Auto Parts, George A.Barber Auto Supply, Chapel Street Auto Sales and Barber’s Sunoco; Barber is also a former Oakland/Mapleville fireman and former Burrillville Chamber of Commerce member. He was also a sponsor of Burrillville Youth Hockey, Burrillville Little League and Burrillville/Gloucester Youth Soccer.
