Soccer clinics

Wide World of Indoor Sports has announced another round of soccer clinics to help players ages 3-12 sharpen their skills in advance of the spring season.

According to a release from the business, each player will receive professional instruction on the foundations of the game; will be pushed physically to get a great workout; and will leave with over 500 touches per hour and a love for the game.

The five-week clinic costs $125 and will held Sundays and Mondays starting March 14.

Officer recruitment

The North Smithfield Police Department is now accepting applications for new officers. All applications must be completed online at policeapp.com/northsmithfield and must be submitted by Friday, March 19 at 4 p.m., along with a $35 non-refundable application fee.

Dean’s list

The following students from North Smithfield have been named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester:

  • Rebecca Thomson, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at Becker College
  • Zachary Zambarano, Nicholas Pelletier, Maria Munschy, Nathan Angell, Alexia Brandao, Jarrod Dube and Srikanth Thatavarthy, Matthew Houde, attending Bryant University.
  • Emily Newton, a junior studying political science major at York College of Pennsylvania.

Pantry announces March needs, pick up dates

The North Smithfield Food Pantry will have pickup up dates on Saturdays, March 20 and 27 from 10 – 10:30 a.m.; and Tuesdays, March 23 and 30 from 5:30 – 6 p.m.

The Food Pantry is for North Smithfield residents and recipients must have a photo ID and a bill confirming their address. Those in need of food are welcome to visit the pantry at the Slatersville Congregational Church UCC on the Common all four times it is open each month.

Due to the pandemic, the food is distributed through a drive through at the church and those picking up food are asked to stay in their car and line up on Green Street.

This month, the pantry is seeking donations of canned protein, fruit and pasta, and boxed cereal. Financial donations can be sent to:.
