NORTH SMITHFIELD – Police in North Smithfield arrested two people on Tuesday, March 9 after they say they received information alleging the pair was selling drugs out of a room at the Traveler’s Motor Lodge.

Antonio Freitas is facing charges and Laura Heinzmann was arrested on a warrant, after police received a tip with a description of their vehicle.

According to a release from the department, the pair was spotted sitting in the vehicle in the parking lot of the nearby Sunoco on Route 146. Both also had open warrants out for their arrest, and Freitas had an expired license.

Freitas later informed officers at the police station that he was hiding narcotics on his person, and they found eight grams of heroin, six grams of fentanyl and $920 cash.

Both suspects are being held at the ACI.

Editor’s note: This article has been edited to reflect that. Heinzmann was arrested on a warrant, and is not facing any charges related to drugs.
