Froggy Night

Take a guided evening walk on Fort Wildlife Refuge and listen to the calls of spring peepers and wood frogs found in the woods and wetlands with the Audubon Society of Rhode Island on Wednesday, April 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. The organization will host their Froggy Nights program at Fort Wildlife Refuge at 1443 Providence Pike.

Participants are advised to dress for the weather, and face masks and social distancing are required.

The fee is $10/member adult, $5/member child; $14/non-member adult, $7/non-member child. The program is open to ages 7 and up. Register online through the events calendar at www.asri.org.

NSHA holds Branch River hike

On Sunday, April 18, join the North Smithfield Heritage Association as they walk from the rail head on Providence Pike along the south bank of the Branch River to the Branch Industrial Park. Participants in the free hike should park along Charron Drive near the intersection with Black Plain Road, and bring a mask. Water and insect repellent are recommended.

The roughly four mile hike will begin at 9 a.m.

Breathe for Steve

Register now for the annual Breathe4Steve Links Fore Life Golf Tournament, to be held on Saturday, June 5 at Crystal Lake Golf Club to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The event, which was cancelled due to COVID-19 last year, is put on by North Smithfield resident Steven Greenough, who suffers from the illness. Participants will follow safety guidelines from the Rhode Island Department of Health.
Those who don’t golf are invited to after-golf events including cocktails, dinner and an auction.

Summer Volleyball

The Gator’s Pub Adult Summer Volleyball League is currently welcoming new teams, with openings in Co-ed A-6’s, Men’s B-6’s, and Co-ed B-6’s divisions that will play nightly from Sunday through Thursday.
