BURRILLVILLE – This water and boating safety coloring cartoon for kids featuring Li’l Skipper and ClamCakes cartoon characters was created for the state of Rhode Island as a creative vehicle to encourage children and families to always wear life jackets while riding in boats, on water crafts and on water skis, as well as learn boating rules and regulations.

I was already creating other cartoon characters for kids safety for Rhode Island State Police, municipal police and fire departments, Hasbro Children’s Hospital and the Safe Kids Rhode Island Coalition, when the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management Law Enforcement Division reached out about creating cartoon characters specifically focused on water and boating safety education and awareness for kids. I went right to work on creating and development of this very popular Li’l Skipper and ClamCakes Intellectual Properties for RI DEM. Not only did they pass out thousands of Li’l Skipper and ClamCakes coloring posters, stickers, Fridge magnets, rulers, coloring books and full color posters across the state year after year, they also published a water and boating safety coloring book on the official RI DEM website, available for downloads and print outs for kids everywhere.

Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce features Li’l Skipper and ClamCakes on their official website every summer too. This summer, Li’l Skipper and ClamCakes water and boating safety coloring posters will be passed out to thousands of kids in seaside communities along the south shore of Rhode Island and Mystic, Conn. Other states, up and down the east coast, are also receiving the Li’l Skipper and ClamCakes materials to pass out to kids in their seaside communities all summer long. Many restaurants and shops will have them on their counters for parents and kids to take home and color together while learning to be safer in boats on the water.

You can easily access the entire Li’l Skipper and ClamCakes water and boating safety coloring book on the RI DEM website by visiting https://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/bnatres/enforce/pdfs/colorbk.pdf All you need is some crayons and colored markers, and you are ready to color and learn.
