Music Boosters fundraiser
The Burrillville High School Music Boosters are holding a calendar fundraiser for the month of June, with prizes including gift cards to local businesses including Western Hotel & Pizza, Dance Inspirations, Uncle Ronnies, Brigido’s and many more. Calendars cost $10 and funds raised will support band and choir students. To get yours contact Leigh-Ann Plante or any band/ choir student.
E-waste collection
The town will hold an E-waste collection event on Saturday, May 22 at the Public Works building at 200 Clear River Drive. Items accepted at no charge include small household appliances, computers, laptops, stereo equipment, telephones, microwaves, ink jet printers, keyboards, routers, toner cartridges, and lead batteries.
Items accepted for a $10 fee include laser jet printers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, wooden stereo speakers and other coolant devices.
No appointment is needed for the drive-through event, which will be held rain or shine. Questions can be directed to [email protected] or (401) 568-4440 ext. 12.
Hydrant flushing
The Pascoag Utility District Water Department and the Harrisville Fire District Water Department will conduct hydrant flushing on Tuesday, May 18 through Friday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The process may cause water discoloration and residents are instructed to run cold water until it clears.
Live entertainment
As the weather improves and the state reopens, there are multiple opportunities to catch live music in and around town.
On Friday, May 21, Johnny’s Victory Diner will have outdoor music from 6-9 p.m., weather permitting, with Nate Cozzolino & the Lost Arts.
Also Friday, Burrillville resident Rob Greyfox continues his summer concert series at The Island with Northeast Groove with Edge of Dreams from 6 to 9 p.m. There is a $15 gate fee for the show. Read more about the series here.
On Saturday, May 22, St. Patrick’s Church will host its annual dinner/dance with music by The Live Music Band. Tickets for the event cost $20 each or two for $35 and can be purchased by calling (401) 568-2411 or (401) 568-4723. Read more about the event here.
Town meetings
The Burrillville Conservation Commission will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday, May 18 starting at 7 p.m. The agenda and instructions to attend can be found here.
The Oakland Mapleville Fire District and the Nasonville Fire District will hold a joint meeting on merging the two districts on Tuesday, May 18 starting at 7 p.m. at OMFD Fire Station, 46 Oakland School St. The agenda is here.
