BURRILLVILLE – The Nasonville Fire District is currently auctioning off a used ambulance, and are promoting the unneeded equipment as a potential project for road trip and RV enthusiasts.
The village district, which is in the process of merging with the neighboring Oakland Mapleville Fire District, is selling a used 2012 Navistar/PL Custom Type 1 Ambulance. The vehicle reportedly was used as a reserve and is in excellent condition, with only 57,386 miles.
A public, online auction for the truck posted on municibid.com has a current price of $16,500 with 10 bidders, and the unpublished reserve not yet met. The auction went live on Friday, June 4 and closes on Monday, July 5 at 5 p.m.
“With summer travel in full swing, Rhode Island residents are now in the market for road trip vehicles,” noted a release on the sale. “Travel enthusiasts and DIY fanatics would have a blast converting this ambulance into the road trip vessel of their dreams.”
“Upcycling has exploded in popularity over the years, and it is now being seen all over the automotive space. Creative visionaries are now refurbishing vehicles like ambulances that are no longer being used and repurposing them by giving them a completely new look and life. The winning bidder can customize the ambulance to their heart’s desire by adding a kitchen area, sleeping area, TV, a meditation space, and more.”
The pickup location for the vehicle is Harrisville.
