BURRILLVILLE – One man was injured on Sunday, July 4 in an accident involving fireworks by Spring Lake, according to police.

Police were reportedly called to the lake around 9:12 p.m. and adult  male was taken to the hospital for a minor injury.

The incident involved an off-duty Burrillville Police Officer and Col. Stephen Lynch noted that the Law Enforcement Bill of Rights prohibits him from discussing the matter while it is under investigation. Lynch did not indicate if the fireworks involved were considered legal under state law.

“The State Fire Marshal’s Office is the lead investigating agency at this time assisted by the Burrillville Police and the Department of Environmental Enforcement Unit,” Lynch said.
