Francis Thibault of North Smithfield dies at 81

NORTH SMITHFIELD – Frances S. Thibault, 81, of North Smithfield died Sunday evening August 29, 2021 at Landmark Medical Center. She was the loving wife of the late Thomas E.Thibault, Sr. They were married on October 27, 1962 and shared 55 wonderful years together until his passing in 2017.

“Fran Thibault loved few things more in life than to enjoy the summer winds sitting on her porch at her beach house, enjoying a cocktail, laughing and talking the days and nights away, nestled among those she loved along her life’s journey,” noted the obituary with Menard -Lacouture Funeral Home.

Born and raised in Central Falls, Thibault was the daughter of the late John and Mary Pikor. She resided in North Smithfield for over 55 years.

Affectionately known to most as either “Mom”, “Mrs.T” or “Franny,” Thibault could get to know any one through just a few moments of conversation according to family.

“She had an innate gift of being able to instantly click and connect with just about anyone and everyone made her special,” the obituary notes.

Thibault treasured time spent with family, friends, and trips Atlantic City, according to family, was a devoted New England Patriots fan and loved her movies even if she saw them multiple times.

“By far and away Frances’ true pride and joy will forever be her one and only grandson Thomas E. Thibault, III. Fran cherished each and every moment with her pumpkin – and yes he is ‘Her Pumpkin,'” the obituary notes.

“Thibault will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was at her best when good times and fun brought together those most important to her.”

Thibault is survived by her daughter Cheryl A. Thibault and her companion James Viera and her two sons Thomas E. Thibault, Jr. and his wife Kathleen and Michael Thibault and her grandson Thomas E. Thibault, III all of North Smithfield. She was the sister of Alfreda Adalio and the late Joseph and Stephen Pikor. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Ellena Yuszczak and her husband Michael and several nieces and nephews and their families.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, Sept. 3 at 9:30 a.m. at Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. in Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. John Church in Slatersville. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
