Back to School
It’s time to head back to the classroom for Burrillville students with classes starting on Tuesday, Sept. 7. Bus routes are available on the DATTCO website and parents are advised that all students will be picked up if they wait outside, even if a stop is not listed for the child. Trash delay
Town offices were closed on Monday in celebration of Labor Day, with no trash or recycling pickup on Monday, Sept. 6. Pickup will be delayed one day for all routes for the remainder of the week.
Land Trust events
Join members of the Burrillville Land Trust at Bravo Brewing for Conversations about Conservation on Thursday, Sept. 9 – 6:30 to 8 p,m. Learn about the BLT, the latest on changes to the EFSB and more at 75 Pascoag Main St. in Pascoag.
On Saturday & Sunday, Sept. 11 and 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. BLT will hold a natural dye workshop. Learn how to use backyard plants to dye yarns and fabrics. Experts include Sasha Azbel, a natural dye specialist; Hope Leeson an ethnobotanist; Dinalyn Spears, director for the Natural Resources/Tribal Planning, and a member of the Narragansett Indian Tribe. Both days include morning yoga, workshop activities, catered lunch, dyeing activities, community conversations, and end of day meditation. The workshop also includes a sewing circle, creation of tote bags, aprons, wrap around skirts and/or a scarf, and a runway fashion show in the woods. Workshop includes all materials, food, instructors and materials. The cost is $100/person for both days or $75/person for one day and advance registration is required. Charter Commission deadline extended
The town has extended the deadline to submit applications to serve on the Charter Review Commission to Thursday, Sept. 16. Volunteers are still needed to serve on the board to review the Town Charter, with nine members expected to meet from September through May.

Auditions
A reminder that auditions for the Assembly Theatre’s production of Little Women will take place this week beginning tonight, on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 6:30 to 8 p.m. Auditions for the production, scheduled for December, will continue Wednesday and Thursday evenings, Sept. 8 and 9. Learn more here.
9/11 commemoration
A town-wide event to acknowledge the 20th anniversary of 9/11 will take place on Saturday, Sept. 11 at Firefighter’s Memorial Park in Harrisville. Organizers released full details of the event, which will start at 8:30 a.m., this week. Visit NRI NOW later this week to learn more about the schedule for the commemoration, which be be free and open to the general public.
Weekend entertainment
Lulu’s Little Pancakes food truck will visit Bravo Brewing Company in Pascoag on Friday, Sept. 10 from 4-8 p.m. On Saturday, the brewery will feature live music with artist Stefan Couture from 6 to 9 p.m. with the Farm to Sandwich food truck from 5 to 8 p.m.
At Johnny’s Victory Diner, Jake Hunsinger and the Rock Bottom Band will perform on the deck Friday, Sept. 10 from 6-9 p.m., weather permitting.
The Burrillville Farmer’s Market continues Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Stillwater Mill pavilion in front of Jesse Smith Memorial Library from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
