Levy P.T.A. raising funds for accessible playground

The Austin T. Levy P.T.A. is fundraising to purchase and install handicap-accessible playground equipment at the elementary school. To donate to help support the project visit https://www.getmovinfundhub.com/clas…/606daf31024f6/donate.

Rescue Act funding

The town of Burrillville is seeking public input on how to spend funding received as part of the American Rescue Act Plan. On Thursday, Sept. 23, officials will hold a public hearing on the issue at 105 Harrisville Main St. starting at 7 p.m. The agenda for the meeting can be found here.

Non-Profit Organizations are invited to submit proposals for funding consideration here and asked to provide justification for the funding need by identifying the harm caused by Covid-19; describing the effect(s) of that harm; and explaining how the proposed project, initiative or program will respond to the effect of harm.

Residents, local businesses and others who would like to share ideas on how Burrillville could make use of the funds can submit their ideas here.

Comedy fundraiser

The Burrillville Land Trust will host an event featuring the comedic talent of New England’s finest comedians on Saturday, Oct. 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Assembly Theatre to raise funds for the effort to save Sweet’s Hill.

Library closed

Jesse Smith Memorial Library was closed due to a sewer backup this week, and will need to remain closed for a few weeks for repairs. While the building is closed, staff at the library will still be available for outside story time and to pickup holds. For those in need of library service, Pascoag Public Library is open its regular hours.

Town meetings

In addition to the public hearing mentioned above, the following town meetings will take place this week:

The Pascoag Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners will hold a meeting on Monday, Sept. 20 starting at 7 p.m. at 141 Howard Ave. The agenda can be found here.

The Burrillville Conservation Commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 105 Harrisville Main St. starting at 7 p.m. The agenda can be found here.

The Burrillville Town Council will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 22 starting at 7 p.m.at 105 Harrisville Main St. The agenda is here.

The Oakland Mapleville Fire District will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 22 starting at 7 p.m. at 46 Oakland School St. for an agenda found here.
