It’s set to be a beautiful fall weekend in the Blackstone Valley and there’s much to do in our region over the next four days, with festivals, live entertainment and more. Below is our Columbus Day weekend roundup.
Bravo Brewing Co.
Check out artist Stefan Couture at Bravo Brewing Co. on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 9 to 6 p.m. at 75 Main St. in Pascoag. The Farm to Sandwich food truck will also be on site serving up sandwiches from 4-8 p.m.
Cady’s Tavern
Rhode Island’s original Roadhouse in Glocester has plenty of live music for the holiday weekend starting with The Live Music Band Saturday, Oct. 9 from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
On Sunday, Cady’s hosts the Roadhouse Blues Jam starting at 3 p.m. with special guest, Joe Moss.
On Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 11, Leos Four Piece Trio will perform at the tavern starting at 2 p.m.
Pumpkin People
It’s the perfect weekend to get your pumpkin on. The Pumpkin People of North Smithfield pumpkin decorating contest challenges residents to put up creative displays for a chance at prizes. To enter, just post a photo of your display on the event page here, and inbox the moderator your address. so judges can visit. Winners will be announced at the upcoming Spooky Spirits Night on Saturday, Oct. 23 at Goodwin Brothers Farm.
Scituate Arts Festival
The 55th annual Scituate Arts Festival takes place on the Village Green in North Scituate this weekend with fine art and handmade crafts for sale, along with entertainment, raffles, food and more. The festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 9 and 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
BH & PS Open House
The Burrillville Historical and Preservation Society will host its 19th Annual Open House/Yard Sale/Bake Sale on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bridgeton School at 16 Laurel Hill Ave. in Pascoag. The sale includes plenty of household goods, antiques and cornstalks for decorating, along with signed copies of Burrillville Revisited. There will also be books, historic exhibits and pastries including homemade pies.
Lindy’s Tavern
Lindy’s Plastic Palace in North Smithfield will host musical bingo on Friday, Oct. 9 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and on Saturday afternoon, Radio Badlands will perform. On Sunday, Oct. 11, Don Holt will host an acoustic open mic from 1 to 5 p.m.
Autumnfest
World War II Memorial Park in Woonsocket will be home to the 43rd annual Autumnfest this weekend with entertainment, vendors, exhibits, food and more. The fun begins on Friday, Oct. 8 with rides and the beer tent open from 6 to 11 p.m. The full festival will be open on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 9 and 10 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 11 from noon to 7 p.m.
Hill’s Tavern
Hill’s Tavern in Glocester will host karaoke with Serge Friday night and live music Saturday starting at 8 p.m. with Coldtrain. Sunday, it’s blues jam featuring Steve Snuffer from 2 to 6 p.m.
History hike
The North Smithfield Heritage Association will conduct a Sayles Hill history walk on Saturday, Oct. 9, leaving from the Aldi’s parking lot at Dowling Village at 9 a.m. The group will visit: The Connolly House, John and Mary Mowry graves (1690), Tyler Mowry Cemetery and the abandoned section of the original Old Sayles Road.
Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park
It’s Sunoco World Series weekend at Thompson Speedway in nearby Thompson, Conn. with 17 divisions of racing starting on Friday, Oct. 8 through Sunday, Oct. 10. Check out the racing lineup and find ticket links here.
