Hockey fundraiser, Freakfest: Five things to know in Burrillville this week

Hockey fundraiser

Bravo Brewing Company will host a fundraiser for the Burrillville High School Boy’s Hockey team on Wednesday, Dec. 29, with the Dinolicious food truck visiting the brewery from 5 to 9 p.m.

A portion of sales will go to the Bronco Hockey Booster Club.

Trash on schedule

There will be no delay to the town’s trash and recycling on schedule for Christmas and New Year’s weeks and residents can place their bins outside for their regular pickup day.

The Whipple Avenue Recycling and Compost facility will also be open on Saturday, Jan. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Freakfest

A benefit show will be held on Saturday, Jan. 8 to help support the family of the late Lance Bicker, a Burrillville native who died in November leaving behind two children.

Freakfest will be held at The Vault Music Hall & Pub in New Bedford, Mass. with more than a dozen bands and entertainment. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door and can be purchased at vaultnb.com.

Goat snacks

When you’re ready to take down the Christmas tree, a reminder that the trees can be used to feed goats, cows and alpacas and many local farms will gladly accept the donations. Trees must not have been chemically treated, and must be free of tinsel and other decorations. Stonehenge Farm at 63 Moroney Road in Pascoag is currently accepting trees anytime.

Town meetings

The Harrisville Fire District will hold a special meeting on Monday, Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. at 115 Central St. The agenda can be found here.

The Burrillville Charter Review Commission will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 28 starting at 7 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers. The agenda can be found here.

The Burrillville Town Council will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, Dec. 29 starting at 4 p.m. at Town Hall at 105 Harrisville Main St. The agenda can be found here.
