Parade planning begins

The committee planning a parade to continue celebration of the town’s 125th birthday will meet on Monday, Jan. 3 at the Memorial Town Building at 1 Main St. at 7 p.m. All who attend in person must wear a medical mask regardless of vaccination status. Senior projects
Students with the North Smithfield High School Wicked Good News staff have recently been publishing newsletters highlighting various projects launched this year as part of the Class of 2022’s graduation requirement. Read about the work of some enterprising seniors in the latest edition here.
Found dog
North Smithfield Animal Control has found an English Bulldog and is looking for the owner. If you believe the dog is yours, call the shelter at (401) 766-0377 or the North Smithfield Police Department at (401) 762-1212.
Nature walk
North Smithfield Heritage Association Nature and History Walks will continue through the winter starting at 9:30 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month. If there’s snow on the trails, hikers will use crampons, snowshoes, or cross country skis, and only plan to cancel if there’s heavy rain or a blizzard.
The first walk of 2022 will take place on Saturday Jan. 8 at the Booth Pond and Souza Farm Conservation areas behind Dowling Village. For a copy of the 2022 schedule, contact [email protected].
Town meetings
The North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Committee will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at Town Hall starting at 6 p.m. The agenda can be found here.
