Sports history wanted

Author John Hill, a retired reporter for the Providence Journal, is working on a history book on the town in honor of its sesquicentennial anniversary. Currently, Hill is working on a section on local sports programs and seeking information on Little League Baseball, Pop Warner Football, Youth Hockey and Youth Soccer.

Jazz concert

Young musicians from North Smithfield High School will be among those performing at the Blackstone Valley High School Jazz Concert at Stadium Theatre Performing Arts Centre in Woonsocket on Thursday, Feb. 10 starting at 7 p.m.

Nature & History walk

On Saturday, Feb. 12 NSHA will walk the Wunnashowatuckqut Conservation Area, following the abandoned Old Harkness and Old Colony Roads to the west bank of the Blackstone River. Hikers will get the chance to see
Rolling Dam and High Rocks Gorge from new vantage points.

Participants will meet at the Forestdale School before 9:30 a.m. and are advised to dress in layers, bring water and wear snow and ice grippers as needed.

Valentine owl

North Smithfield Public Library will have a new craft take home kit available for all ages this week, starting on Thursday, Feb. 10. Register to grab your Valentine owl bookmark kit at the library by visiting https://nspl.evanced.info/signup

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Historic District Commission will hold a meeting on Monday, Feb. 7 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Memorial Town Building at 1 Main St. Participation will also be offered virtually with the agenda and link found here.

The North Smithfield Zoning Board will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 8 starting at 7 p.m. at 83 Greene St. The agenda and instructions to attend via Zoom can be found here.

The North Smithfield Conservation Commission will hold a vrtual meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 9 starting at 6:30 p.m. The agenda and link to attend are here.
