Special Needs Resource Fair

The Northwest Special Education Region SELAC Committee will host a Special Needs Resource Fair on Tuesday, Feb. 15 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Ponaganset Middle School at 7 Rustic Hill Road. Learn more about home-based and after school support for you and your child, financial resources you may be entitled to and local sports/recreation programs tailored to youth with disabilities.

The event will include representatives from The Groden Network, RIPIN, Katie Beckett Medicaid, Team Rockstar Sports, The Autism Project and Social Sparks. RSVP to [email protected] or call A. Cambio at (401) 301-1074.

Join the knit wits

Dust off your knitting needles and join The Hen House for a new Wednesday night knitting class starting February 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. The intermediate class allows participants to choose their own projects and work at their own pace, with instruction and support as needed. Students can purchase a “card” good for five nights for $125 to be used at their discretion. The business at () invites you to join teacher Paula L. for a fun, social time with like minded “knit wits.”

Cigar shop closing

Lovett’s Fine Cigars and Arts will be closing permanently at the end of this month. The business at 1184 Putnam Pike Chepachet will reportedly be moving out of state.

Vaccine booster clinic

The Glocester Emergency Management Agency will be operating a COVID-19 booster vaccination clinic on Saturday, Feb. 19 at Ponaganset High School at 137 Anan Wade Road for people who are fully vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine and 18 years or older or with the Pfizer vaccine and 12 years or older and their second dose was over five months ago.

Town meetings

The Foster-Glocester School Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 15 for an executive session at 91 Anan Wade Road starting at 5:30 p.m. The agenda and instructions to attend can be found here.
