BURRILLVILLE – A man who was visiting 6th District Court in Providence for a hearing on a restraining order was taken from the courtroom by Burrillville police and sheriffs late last month, and placed in custody for two arrest warrants.
Michael Marchione, 44, of Burrillville, was first arrested by Burrillville police on Sunday, Jan. 9 for a domestic incident in which he reportedly struck a woman multiple times, broke her phone when she tried to call police, and then fled the scene with some of her belongings. Marchione was taken into custody at his mother’s home in North Providence and charged with larceny, assault, vandalism and refusal to relinquish a telephone related to the incident.
According to criminal records, Marchione was next charged with disorderly conduct and violation of a no contact order by North Providence police on Monday, Jan. 24.
On Thursday, Jan. 27, the victim from the Burrillville incident, a 42 year-old-female, visited the Burrillville Police Department to report that Marchione had been sending her emails in violation of a no contact order. Officers again checked his mother’s home in North Providence, but did not locate the suspect, and ultimately issued an arrest warrant.
Marchione was spotted in 6th District Court by a Burrillville police officer on Monday, Jan. 31. Police responded to the third floor of the Providence building with members of the sheriff’s department and took Marchione into custody.
“He was brought in for his hearing pertaining to his restraining order and then brought to the fourth floor where he was arraigned on his new charge,” the arrest report notes.
Marchione also had an arrest warrant related to the domestic charges in North Providence. He has a trial scheduled for Tuesday, March 8.
