Rhode Island PBS has announced that the premiere of a documentary series based on a North Smithfield village will premiere on the network on Friday, Sept. 16.
The limited series, dubbed Slatersville, America’s First Mill Village, is the product of more than a decade of work from town-based director Christian de Rezendes. The 12-episode documentary tells the 200-year history of the first industrialized mill village in the U.S.
De Rezendes told NRI NOW that the station will run a new episode every Friday starting on the 16th, through October 21 for the first half of his series. The director said the second half will premiere sometime in 2023.
