Dauphinais Scholarship

The Chief Robert G. Dauphinais Memorial Foundation has announced a scholarship opportunity open to seniors in Glocester, Foster, North Scituate, Burrillville, North Smithfield and Smithfield. The foundation will award two $1,000 scholarships to students attending a facility for higher learning with a concentration in fire science, nursing or medical fields, in memory of the late Chepachet chief.

Easter Giveaway

The Harmony Corner Store is collecting donations of items such as books, coloring books, crayons and pencils, for the Hasbro Children’s Hospital Easter Giveaway. Residents can drop off new, unused items for the program at the store at 365 Snake Hill Road through Friday, April 1.

“Any of us that have had children have need of spending extended visits to Hasbro knows what a great job they do to brighten up the children’s days,” the business noted.

Underground Yoga to close

The owners of Underground Yoga announced plans to close their studio at 1184 Putnam Pike this week, noting that the business will refund any remaining balance customers may have on “class cards.”

“Our hearts are saddened that we will need to say, ‘So long,’ to all of our friends and workout partners that we’ve made along this journey,” the business noted in a social media post on Friday, March 4. “We’ve poured our hearts and souls into creating a safe, moderately priced space so all could find and nurture themselves as we all deserve.”

Town hiring

The town of Glocester is hiring for three positions including an animal control officer, a tax assessor clerk, and a part-time dispatcher. The application deadline for the clerk role, which pays between $22.59 and $23.59 per hour, is Friday. March 11.
