Town needs volunteers

The town is actively seeking volunteers to serve on several town committees including the Planning Board; the Asset Management Commission; the Historic District Commission; the Sewer Commission; the Economic Development Commission; the Parks & Recreation Commission and the Public Art Advisory Committee. N.S. native wins Damko award

Congratulation to North Smithfield native Sara Martin on winning the Theodore “Ted” Damko Award from the Massachusetts’ Secondary Schools Athletic Directors Associations. Martin, a graduate from North Smithfield High School, serves as athletic director at Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School in Franklin, Mass. Read a story on the honor here.

Art show opening

The North Smithfield Art Committee will hold an art show opening with artist Normand Peloquin on Thursday, April 21 from 4-6 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Greene St. Peloquin, a beekeeper and environmentalist, creates landscapes using heated beeswax.

Clean & Green Day

Clean & Green Day, North Smithfield’s annual town-wide litter pickup, will be held on Saturday, April 23 from 9 a.m. to noon. Organizers have created a list of areas that need attention, and volunteers are asked to sign up in advance here or show up on the day of the event to be assigned a road.

Volunteers can pick up supplies including t-shirts starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, and enjoy coffee and doughnuts at Town Hall.  

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Town Council will hold a meeting on Monday, April 18 starting at 6:45 p.m. at 83 Greene St. The agenda can be found here.

The Municipal Buildings Review Task Force will hold a meeting on Tuesday, April 19 starting at 5:30 p.m. at the North Smithfield Police Station at 575 Smithfield Road. The agenda is here.

The Asset Management Commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday, April 19 starting at 7 p.m. at 575 Smithfield Road. The agenda is here.

The North Smithfield Sewer Commission will hold a virtual meeting on Wednesday. April 20 starting at 7 p.m. The agenda and link to attend can be found here.

The North Smithfield Budget Committee will hold a meeting on Thursday, April 21 starting at 6 p.m. The agenda is here.

The Halliwell Review Committee will hold a meeting on Thursday, April 21 starting at 6:30 p.m. at 83 Greene St. The agenda is here.
