Scarecrow Festival meeting

The planning committee for the Glocester Scarecrow Festival will hold their first meeting of the year on Tuesday, April 26 starting at 6 p.m. at the Chepachet Grange. Last year’s committee members and volunteers are invited, and the group is always looking for new members as well.

Those interested in attending the October 15 event as a craft vendor should email [email protected].

Script take back

The federal Drug Enforcement Agency National Take Back Day is Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., and the Glocester Addiction Assistance Program will be set up in the lobby of the Glocester Police Department at 162 Chopmist Hill Road. A dropbox on site offers a safe, secure way to get rid of unused or expired pills and patches, such as antibiotics or opioids. No sharps or liquids will be accepted.

Good fishing

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management’s Division of Fish and Wildlife Outdoor Education announced that several local ponds were stocked on Sunday, April 21, including Spring Grove Pond in Glocester and Chepachet River in Glocester and Burrillville.

Opening day

Glocester Little League will hold opening day on Saturday, April 30 starting with a parade at 10 a.m. at Acotes Field. The event will include opening ceremonies at 11 a.m., food trucks and events for all divisions.

The league is also in need of umpires and those who would like to be trained and earn a little extra pay on weekends should reach out via the league’s Facebook page.

Town meetings

The Foster-Glocester School Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, April 26 starting at 5:15 p.m. in the Ponaganset High School Library. The agenda can be found here.

The Glocester Planning Board workshop originally scheduled for Monday, April 25 has been cancelled.
