Cool Beans returns to Cady's Tavern Saturday night.

Northern, RI – The weekend is approaching, and between a parade that only happens once every 150 years, to Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day, there’s enough happening in northern Rhode Island to keep you busy right through Sunday night.

Add all that to the warming weather that’s allowing venues with outdoor seating to pick up speed, and you can jam-pack your free time with food and fun, without having to spend your last dime just to fill up your gas tank.

This week, Wright’s Dairy Farm’s ice cream venue, The Wright Scoop, opens for the season on Thursday, with hours every week going forward on Thursdays and Fridays from 1-9 p.m. Also reopening is the patio at Johnny’s Victory Diner in Mapleville, with barbecue back every Friday night, along with live music all summer long.

Today – Thursday – is Cinco de Mayo, and many local restaurants have specials on tacos, margaritas and more.

And on Saturday, rise and shine northern Rhode Island because no amount of rain will stop the town of North Smithfield from hosting it’s 150th anniversary parade, set to step off from Slatersville Plaza at 10 a.m.

Whatever you do this weekend, we hope you enjoy it – and find time to support these great local businesses and organizations.
