BURRILLVILLE – A popular free summer concert series in Burrillville has an added perk in 2022, with food trucks joining the lineup for all seven outdoor shows.

The Riverwalk Times concert series will be held on Saturdays through July and August, with some of the best local bands in the region to perform free shows at the Stillwater Mill Pavilion in front of the Jesse Smith Memorial Library. Guests are invited to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy some live music, and dancing is encouraged.

And this year, visitors will have a chance to purchase great food to accompany the free entertainment.

The series begins on Saturday, July 9 at 6 p.m. with the return of Brass Attack, a locally-based horn band now in its 40th year. The Four Smoking Guys food truck will be on site serving their award-winning barbecue.

On Saturday, July 16, rock band The Aviators will play the Harrisville pavilion with refreshments provided by Burrillville’s own Dinolicious food truck.

Dinolicious will also join the Riverwalk concerts on July 23 and 30, when All About Amy and Kelley Lennon return, for each of their respective dates.

Four Smokin Guys join classic rock/blues/dance band Whiskey Rhode on Saturday, August 6, and on August 13, local favorite rock veterans The Live Music Band will be accompanied by food from La Carreta Authentic Mexican out of Glocester.

The series wraps up on Saturday, August 20 with the return of Dinolicious, and music by the Jesse Liam Band, a staple at the popular concert series since 2013.

All concerts will start at 6 p.m. and will be moved inside the library at 100 Tinkham Lane in the case of inclement weather. Outdoor shows typically bring out the crowds, with hundreds of guests each week relaxing across the grassy field at Stillwater.

The concert series has been put on annually by Friends of the Jesse Smith Library every year since 2008 – save a Covid-related break in 2020. The idea for the concerts was originally conceived by Board of Trustees member G Wayne Miller not as a fundraiser, but rather a way to give back to the community as a “thank you,” for year-round support of the library.

Donation buckets – and business sponsors – help the organization to pay for the bands, and keep them live music playing year after year. More than 30 local businesses and organizations have signed on as sponsors in 2022.

For more information on the concert series, call the library at (401) 710-7800.
