NORTH SMITHFIELD – A series of events dubbed Heritage Day on Saturday, July 9 included something for everyone, from car enthusiasts to history buffs.
Hundreds of residents came out to enjoy a full day of festivities, put on through collaboration between North Smithfield Parks & Recreation and the North Smithfield Heritage Association. The community events included a car show, a vendor fair, displays, tours, Kids Day in the Park and a grand finale with food trucks, live entertainment and fireworks at North Smithfield High School.
Families took part in free kids activities at Pacheco ParkSpectators enjoyed a massive grand finale fireworks display at North Smithfield High School Vendors peddled their wares on the Town Hall lawn.Kids were invited to check out trucks and equipment at Pacheco ParkThe North Smithfield Heritage Association offered historical walking tours.North Smithfield Fire & Rescue provided welcomed relief to kids enjoying the hot sun at Pacheco Park.Gail Berlinghof ran a, “live tour,” of Slatersville Cemetery with actors portraying the deceased. Town Council President John Beauregard once again organized a grand finale fireworks display, provided with support from corporate donors. Silver medal winners in the national competition representing Special Olympics RI, Sarah Labreche, Tom Palmer and Brady Pendergast, provided a count down to the fireworks.
