Candidate signing event
The North Smithfield Democratic Town Committee will host a candidate signing event at 440 Buxton St. on Tuesday, July 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. The event is open to all North Smithfield voters and candidates for federal, state, and local races. Candidates will be collecting signatures for nomination papers in order to be certified to appear on the ballot in the upcoming election.
Poll Workers needed
Speaking of the election, the town of North Smithfield is in need of poll workers for the primary to be held Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and for the general election to be held Tuesday, Nov. 8, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Anyone interested in serving as a Poll Worker in town is asked to contact Tami Jacques at (401) 767-2200, Ext. 504.
Kickball game
Pack 7 Slatersville Cub Scouts will host a kick ball game at Pacheco Park on Wednesday, July 13, one of several free events this summer open to all children entering grades K-5 and their families.
The game will take place at the park at 11 Main St. starting at 6:30 p.m., followed by popsicles at Scouter’s Hall.
Photography exhibit
The North Smithfield Arts Committee has put up a new exhibit at Town Hall at 83 Greene St. showcasing pieces by three local photographers: Pamela Bhatia, Bill Burroughs and Michael St. Jean – who is also the superintendent of North Smithfield public schools.
The photos will remain on the walls of Town Hall through July and August, and the committee invites residents to bring their photographs to add to the display over the summer as part of the community project.
