Quarter auction, tax sale notice: Five things to know in Glocester this week

The Glocester Police Department donated funds raised from a charity softball game earlier this year to Gateway Mental Health Services, and this week, the organization returned the favor, with the Gateway Mobile Crisis Team and the RI Autism Project putting together “busy bags” for officers to have as a tool in case they encounter someone who is having a sensory overload.

Free live music

The Glocester Recreation Department has announced that this week’s summer concert, to take place on Wednesday, July 27, will feature The Driftwoods. The free concert takes place at Chepachet Union Church starting at 6:30 p.m.

On Sunday, July 31, The Narrow River Band will perform at Sundays in the Village at the pavilion at Kent Field. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with music starting at noon.

Quarter auction

Pinewood Pub at 16 Terry Lane in Chepachet will host a quarter auction and bingo event to include crafters and vendors on Wednesday, July 27 with shopping starting at 5:45 p.m. and the auction starting at 6:15 p.m. Participating vendors include Color Street, Rising Butterfly Designs, Cindy’s Crafty Creations, Pure Haven, Thirty One, Tupperware, Pampered Chef and Lula Roe.

Customer appreciation

Brown & Hopkins Country Store will host a Best of Rhode Island, Customer Appreciation Celebration on Saturday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in honor of their win in the publication.

The event will feature food and drink, sales and giveaways and entertainment by Nolan Leite. All registered attendees receive a free swag bag.

Tickets cost $2 and can be reserved here. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Sweet Binks Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation.

Tax sale notice

The town has published notice of the intent to sell at auction liens on several properties where taxes are past due.

The sale will take place at the pavilion at Kent Field at 1111 Putnam Pike Chepachet on Thursday, August 11 at 10 a.m. A list of the properties and the complete notice from the town can be found here.

Town meetings

The Glocester Recreation Commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday, July 26 starting at 7:30 p.m. at Glocester Town Hall. The agenda can be found here.

Both the Glocester Land Trust and the Glocester Historic District Commission have announced that they will not be holding their regularly scheduled meetings this week.
