BURRILLVILLE – Bus Stop Kids “Back To School Safety” coloring cartoons offer a variety of safety tips parents can discuss with kids returning to school while they color together.

The cartoons cover bus stop, school bus, school building and playground safety tips with great images to enjoy during the entire school year. The series was recently submitted to the Woonsocket Harris Public Library, and the children’s director forwarded the cartoons to the universal access portal, now making them available to libraries across Rhode Island for use in children’s areas. Woonsocket Police officers have participated with kids and teens safety campaigns and programs for the past three decades, with cartoons in schools, daycares and community centers, and at Landmark Medical Center.

The variety of messages and artwork address multiple areas of safety related to kids, which can easily be applied and discussed in classrooms, daycares, libraries and community centers. Police department school resource officers can utilize these kids safety materials within the city or town they work for, to heighten awareness and educate little kids about safety. Even though these coloring cartoons are created specifically to help promote safety directly to children, they also provide a great opportunity for adults to open doors and talk about safety concerns. Communication is key to success when it comes to child safety.

Kids can color in the cartoons while also entertaining themselves with Bus Stop Kids safety mazes, crossword puzzles, connect-the-dots, word searches, color-by-numbers and more, but it ultimately takes an adult to open safety discussions with kids and students. The primary audience for these child safety coloring cartoons are kids in daycare and students attending Pre-K through the 3rd grade classrooms.

Watch for many more Bus Stop Kids coloring cartoons in these weekly Sunday Features during the upcoming school year. They will reach out to kids and students within the scope of the “Seasons Of Safety” coloring campaign and address those specific seasons with a variety of creative images and safety tips.

Have a safe and great school year kids!
