Open house
The North Smithfield Heritage Association will hold the Forestdale School Christmas Open House on Thursday, Dec. 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. at 190 School St. Guests are invited to peruse local artifacts, pass some time with volunteers, shop for unique gifts and sign up for the free monthly Heritage Association newsletter.
Toy Drive
The North Smithfield Police Department is hosting a Christmas Toy Drive and is now collecting new, unwrapped toys for local children in need. Donations can be dropped off at the police department at 575 Smithfield Road through Wednesday, Dec. 14, and will also be collected at the Dowling Village Walmart on Friday, Dec. 9 from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 10 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Adopt-a-Teen
The Meadows at 2 Village Way will host a Teen Gift Drive & Holiday Craft Fair for “Operation Christmas! Adopt A Teen!” on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The event will feature raffles, shopping with local crafters and vendors, and an ugly sweater contest.
The organization is also seeking donations for teens 12-18 and young adults with special needs up to 21. Ideal gifts are gift cards; electronics- i.e. headphones, speakers, gaming accessories; new clothing of all sizes including hats, gloves and scarves; sporting equipment, games and more.

Heritage walk
The North Smithfield Heritage Association will host a Heritage Walk of Waterford Village on Saturday, Dec. 10 starting at 9:30 a.m. Walkers will meet in the Fire House Pizza parking lot on Great Road and
visit Coblin Rock, Mammoth Mills Ruins, the Blackstone Canal, Waterford School, St. Paul’s Church, the Waterford Railroad Station, Railroad Fountain and the covered bridge site.
Town meetings
The North Smithfield Town Council will hold a meeting on Monday, Dec. 5 starting at 6:45 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda can be found here.
