Vacation workshops, Day of Remembrance: Five things to know in Burrillville this week

Drop-in Tech Help

Did you get a new device for Christmas and need some help understanding how it works? Jesse Smith Memorial Library will offer drop-in tech help today – Tuesday, Dec. 27 – from 1 to 2 p.m. Get one on one help from the library reference department with no registration required.

The library will also offer a number of winter break programs this week including Pokemon & Lego Clubs, Decorate a Snowflake drop in crafting and a “Noon Year’s Eve Party for Kids” from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 31. Learn more on the library’s Facebook page.

Day of Remembrance

Toti’s Tavern will mark the one year anniversary of the death of former owner Doti Waterman on Thursday, Dec. 29 with an event from 6 to 8 p.m. Guests are invited to honor her legacy with a visit to the business at 8 Callahan School St.

Vacation workshops

Art Box Studios at 180 Tinkham Lane is running a series of school vacation workshops this week, with Magical Fairy Jars today, Tuesday, Dec. 27, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by Kids Paint & Sip – with painting and hot chocolate – from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, they’ll offer Polymer Clay Jewelry Making from 2 to 4 p.m. and on Thursday, Dec. 29, it’s Glitter Bracelets from 11 a.m. to noon, then Quirky Creatures from 2 to 4 p.m. The final school vacation workshop, making Loop Yarn Pillows, will be held on Friday, Dec. 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Classes cost from $20 to $25 and registration is required by calling (401) 568-5000 or visiting artboxstudiori.com.

At the brewery

Bravo Brewing Company at 75 Pascoag Main St. will host a fundraiser for the Burrillville Hockey Booster Club on Wednesday, Dec. 28 from 5 to 9 p.m., with the Everything An food truck on site. The brewery will also host trivia on Thursday, Dec. 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., with Everything An serving food from 5 to 9 p.m. On Friday, the Nanu Burmese food truck will be there from 5 to 9 p.m.

Town meetings

The Pascoag Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 28 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the fire station at 141 Howard Ave. The agenda is here.

The Oakland Mapleville Fire District Operating Committee will hold a monthly meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 28 at the fire station at 46 Oakland School St. starting at 7 p.m. The agenda is here.
