Retro game night, Spring Showcase: Five things to know in Burrillville this week

The Pascoag Utility District responded for repairs after a pole was hit Saturday on Staghead Drive. The work required a brief outage on the road, along with Wilson Trail, Doe Crossing, Deer Run and Fawn Drive.

Retro game night

Bravo Brewing Company in Pascoag will hold its first retro game night on Monday, March 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. Drink craft beer and play games from the 1980’s and 1990’s on some classic systems.

Spring showcase

Burrillville High School will host a Spring Showcase on Thursday, March 9 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the high school at 425 East Ave. The event is open to the public and will begin with opening remarks, followed by half hour sessions on each of the school’s nine Career & Technical Education programs approved by the Rhode Island Department of Education.

Raffle ticket sales

Sales of tickets for the Burrillville Land Trust’s scratch ticket fundraising raffle will take place outside of the First Universalist Church on Harrisville Main Street on Saturday, March 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The first prize in the drawing, to be held Friday, March 31 at 6 p.m. at Bravo Brewing Company in Pascoag, will be a roll of 100 $5 tickets from the Massachusetts lottery. The second prize will be 50 $2 tickets.

Tickets cost $20 and can also be purchased by calling Roberta Lacey at (401) 368-0930. The raffle will benefit the organization’s ongoing conservation efforts in Burrillville, including the purchase of Sweet’s Hill.

Win a pizza oven

Corkscrew Wine & Spirits at 1452 Broncos Highway is hosting a raffle for a new Ooni Pizza Oven. Just stop in to the store and mention the oven while making a purchase to be entered in the drawing

Town meetings

The Burrillville Planning Board will hold a meeting on Monday, March 6 starting at 7 p.m. in the Jesse Smith Library community room at 100 Tinkham Lane. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville Housing Authority will hold a meeting on Wednesday, March 8 starting at 6:30 p.m. at 77 Ashton Court. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville Town Council will hold a meeting on Wednesday, March 8 starting at 7 p.m. at the Wallace F. Lees Public Safety Complex, 1477 Victory Highway. The agenda is here.

Two bonus “things”: Stop the bleed, benefit

Two events this week have already closed registration, but there are still ways to participate.

The benefit for Augustine “Gus” Eddy will take place on Monday at Uncle Ronnie’s Tavern – and while tickets for the event are no longer on sale, those who wish to help the family by making a donation can do so here. Read more about the former fire chief here.

All spots have been filled in the Burrillville Land Trust’s first ever Stop the Bleed workshop to be held on Saturday, but those still interested are urged to sign up on the waitlist. If there is enough demand, the organization plans to schedule another workshop.
