This week’s newshounds, London and Olivia or “Livvie,” live in The Clocktower Apartments in Harrisville with owner Patricia Russell.

Russell says the dogs are attention hounds, “always looking for a chin scratch or a head pat, like they are deprived of any attention from their fur mom.”

“Friendly and nosey, they are always ready to sniff out where you’ve been and if you’re carrying. Snacks, that is,” Russell said.

The French Bulldogs, now ages six and three, were both were rescued from puppy mills. London, the older sister, was rescued her from a kill shelter in Ohio.

“She was a sick little girl needing a spay, and I found out when she arrived she was positive for heart worm,” said Russell. “She was no longer ‘valued’ as her last two litters ended in stillborn puppies.”

Russell was looking to rescue a pug when she learned about Olivia, who was in need of her help.

“She was returned to her breeder after needing an emergency spay for pyometra,” or infected uterus, Russell explained. “She had become ‘worthless’ because she could no longer make puppies.”

“They now run, jump and play and sleep on the couch, living the rest of their lives like queens,” said Russell. “The girls are now living their best lives, sleeping on the couch and getting all the back scratches and belly rubs they want.”
