BURRILLVILLE – Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha announced that a Burrillville man is facing charges in superior court after allegedly strangling a child.

Kevin Pomfret, 37, was charged with one count of second-degree child abuse. Pomfret reportedly surrendered himself to Burrillville police in February.

Neronha said that in January, Pomfret strangled a victim who was under the age of 14, inflicting physical injury. Burrillville police conducted the investigation.

Pomfret is scheduled for a pre-arraignment conference in Providence County Superior Court judge in July.
