Bobcats!

The North Smithfield Land Trust noted this week that the organization’s 42-acre Village Way property has been part of a five-year study by URI and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management to examine wildlife distribution in the state. The final winter trail camera survey report was just released, and the study coordinator commented that the parcel has shown quite a diversity of wildlife over the years, including multiple litters of bobcats. The land trust published an image of two bobcats playing in the snow last winter on the property.

Street closure

The town of Blackstone has announced that crews will be working on a water main on St. Paul Street near the intersection with Canal Street on Tuesday, Aug. 1, and the road will be closed to traffic. Delays and detours are expected, and drivers are advised to seek and alternate route.

Questions can be directed to the Blackstone Department of Public Works at (508) 883-9331.
