Costume contest
Corkscrew Wine & Spirits at 1452 Broncos Highway is currently holding a Halloween Costume Contest for the chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the store. To enter, just make any purchase in costume before Sunday, Nov. 5. A photo featuring your picture will be posted on the business’s Facebook and Instagram to determine the winner by “likes.”
Flu clinic
The Burrillville School Department will hold a Community Flu Clinic on Friday, Nov. 3, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Burrillville Middle School at 2300 Broncos Highway. Register in advance at www.schoolflu.com.
Not helping BPD
The Burrillville Police Department is warning residents that someone has been frauduently trying to solicit donations on their behalf.
“We currently are not soliciting any funds as this time,” noted BPD. “Please do not give any monies and/or personal information to these suspected scammers.”
Residents are asked to help spread the word.
Vacancy
The Burrillville Board of Canvassers is seeking a registered Democrat to fill a vacancy in an alternate position. According to state law, alternates must not be from the same political party. According to a notice on the position, the role requires, “a great deal of flexibility,” especially during elections.

Carrie the Musical
The Assembly Theatre at 26 East Ave. will host Carrie the Musical on Friday, Nov. 3 and Saturday, Nov. 4 starting at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 5 starting at 2 p.m. The performance is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals and is based on Stephen King’s horror novel. Tickets cost $20 or $15 for students and seniors, and can be purchased here.
Stuff the Gazebo
The Burrillville Lions Club will Stuff the Gazebo in town on Sunday, Nov. 5, collecting items for the Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack program. Members of the club will be at the gazebo in front of Levy Elementary School on Main Street in Harrisville from 9 a.m. to noon collecting needed foods including peanut butter, pasta, mac & cheese, juice boxes, and other non-perishable food and snacks.
The volunteer-run snack pack program provides weekend meals for approximately 50 school children and families in need in town.
Town Meetings
There are no town board meetings scheduled in Burrillville this week according to the Secretary of State’s website. The next meeting listed will be held by the Burrillville Planning Board on Monday, Nov. 6.
