Ski Club holds sign-ups
Sign ups are now open for the North Smithfield Ski Clubs 2023/2024 season. The club is open to students in 6th through 12th grade and offers weekly chartered bus trips every Monday to Wachusett Mountain Ski Area from January to February after school from 2:45 – 9 p.m. Learn more and sign up at https://nsskiclub.com/
Thanksgiving
Town Hall will close in celebration on Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 23 and remain closed on Friday, Nov. 24. Trash and recycling will not be collected on Thursday and will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
North Smithfield Public Library will be closed from November 23-25 for the holiday and will reopen on Monday, Nov. 27.
Small Business Saturday
Let’s skip over Friday entirely and talk about something a little more relevant to northern Rhode Island: Small Business Saturday. While it’s not quite up to date or complete, you can find a list of businesses in North Smithfield here.
Town-based small businesses are invited to remind locals of their goods and services – as well as any specials they might be running this week – in the comments below.
Final Car Show
The Beef Barn Restaurant at 200 Industrial Drive will host its final car show on the season on Saturday, Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is open to the public and there is no entry fee for cars that would like to participate.
Town meetings
The North Smithfield Town Council, acting as the Municipal Building Review Task Force, will hold a meeting on Monday, Nov. 20 starting at 5:45 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here. The council’s regular meeting will begin at 6:45 p.m. beginning with executive session with the public meeting at 7:30 p.m. for an agenda found here.
The Personnel Board will hold.a meeting on Monday, Nov 20 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the North Smithfield Police Station at 575 Smithfield Road. The agenda is here.
The North Smithfield Fire & Rescue Service Board of Directors will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 21 starting at 6:30 p.m. at 1470 Providence Pike. The agenda is here.
