Greet no more
Franchise owner Carmella Beroth has announced that the monthly publication Greet North Smithfield, formerly The North Smithfield Pulse, will close this month. The magazine, a, “social publication,” mailed to North Smithfield residents over the past three year, will have its final issue in December.
Last week for yard waste
Friday, Dec. 1 begins the final week for curbside yard waste pickup in North Smithfield, according to the Department of Public Works. Pickup, which began in November, ends the week of December 8.
Giving Tuesday
Tuesday, Nov. 28 is known at Giving Tuesday and Friends of the North Smithfield Animal Shelter is asking residents to consider making a donation on the day for generosity and giving back. The donation will help to continue veterinary and senior citizen programs.
Donations can be made via check made out to The Friends of the North Smithfield Animal Shelter and mailed to P.O. Box 653, Slatersville, RI 02876 or via the, “donate,” button on the group’s Facebook page.
Fab Over 40
North Smithfield resident Harlee Lavalee, a 51 year old metastatic breast cancer survivor, is among the contestants in NewBeauty magazine’s Fab Over 40 competition, and is currently in 7th place. The contest is one of National Breast Cancer Foundation’s biggest supporters, raising more than $8.2 million to support their mission in 2022. The winner will receive two-page spread in the magazine, $40,000 cash and a, “spa-cation.”

The North Smithfield Town Council, acting as the Municipal Building Review Task Force, will hold a meeting on Thursday, Nov. 30 starting at 5:45 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here.
