
Food drive
The Glocester Police Department has partnered with Navigant Credit Union to ensure that the Glocester Food Pantry remains stocked through Christmas. The department will be collecting non-perishable food items until Wednesday, Dec. 20. Donations can be dropped off at the Navigant at 1042 Putnam Pike during their business hours, or at the police department any time.
Floral demonstration
The Glocester Democratic Town Committee will hold a floral demonstration fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cherryhill Flowers Too at 649 Putnam Pike Greenville. Lew Pryeor will lead guests in creating hands on floral arrangement. There will be tastings from Northern Rhode Island Democrats Family Cookbook, and hot cider and non-alcoholic drinks will be served.The fundraiser will also include raffles and serve as a food drive for the Glocester Food Pantry. Tickets cost $50 for individuals or $75 per couple.
Fundraising reception
On the other side of the aisle, a fundraising reception will be held in honor of state Rep. Brian Rea on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at Assados at 102 Putnam Pike. The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.
Santa Parade
The Glocester First Responders annual Santa parade will be held on Sunday, Dec. 3 starting at 6 p.m. at the West Glocester Fire station. The parade will travel along Route 44, turning right on West Greenville Road, then right onto Snake Hill Road, ending at Ponaganset High School. Families are invited to park along the route and wave to Santa escorted by emergency vehicles.
Town meetings
The Glocester Recreation Commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 28 starting at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.
The Glocester Land Trust will not be holding their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
